My hair is impossible!

I'm having the WORST trouble with my hair honestly.  I CANNOT sleep on my hair when it's wet at all. It doesn't curl right, and tends to be frizzy and gross and semi curly with waves, or not even..my curls become flat. I can't even put it into a bun after i scrunch it. It just ruins the curls and straightens them out. Click here to read the full article

Infectious agents that contribute to hair loss

...  A number of infectious agents and infection-related conditions can contribute to hair loss. Some common ones are described here.  Surprisingly, ringworm has nothing to do with worms, but is a fungal infection that can occur anywhere on the body.  If it develops on the scalp, it can cause patches of hair loss and is known to doctors as "tinea capitis." Ringworm is the same thing as athlete's foot, and the same kind of fungal infection that can affect the nails too. Other fungi that may cause tinea capitis include Trichophyton schoenleinii and Trichophyton megninii in Southern Europe and Africa, and Trichophyton violaceum in the Middle East. Worldwide, the fungus Microsporum audouinii is a very common cause of ringworm, but increasingly Trichophyton tonsurans can also cause tinea capitis, especially in the US and Latin American countries.  Click here to read the full article

Hair choice. Some decide to go natural.

Image
... My hair was falling out ... so I’ve decided to forgo the drugs and the doctors and get back to basics. I’ve decided to go “natural,” which in the black hair community means no longer straightening my hair with heat or chemicals. No more relaxers, no more hot combs, no more flat irons and 14-inch hair weaves. Just the hair that grows out of my head the way it grows out of my head: kinky, coily and curly.  This meant cutting a good 10 inches of straight hair off, leaving nothing but virgin, untouched curls. It’s a move in the natural hair community known as the “big chop.” Having shorter, natural hair means less manipulation. The theory is that the less I trouble my hair, the less that it will trouble me. Click here to read the full article

Tips and Hairstyles for Balding Men - Balding Gracefully

... 'he' thinks, and I definitely agree, that the best option is for a man to accept the fact that he’s balding and simply embrace it. It’s cheaper and involves less work than the 'mentioned' options (see link). No need for snake oil cures and tearing up pieces of your scalp like layers of turf. When you start noticing your hairline recede, just remember that millions of men go bald and still have successful careers, attract the ladies (many women actually prefer bald men), and generally have kick ass lives. Your worth as a man isn’t tied up with how much hair you have on your head. If you don’t make a big deal out of your hair, no one else will either. Click here to read the full article

Hair lifecycle and structure. What is hair made of?

Hair is composed of strong structural protein called keratin. This is the same kind of protein that makes up the nails and the outer layer of skin.  Androgens regulate hairgrowth and in scalp hair Androgens may cause the hair follicle to get progressively smaller and the hairs to become finer in individuals who are genetically predisposed to this type of hair loss Click here to read the full article

Does the right food make healthy hair?

If  you have been experiencing unusual hair loss or problems with dryness, splitting, or breakage, or if you simply want to have more beautiful locks, nutrition can help. Hair Health is also dependent on  Hormonal Shifts,  Stress,  Lack of Protein,  Medications and Supplements,  Thyroid Gland Malfunction and Other Disorders The actual number of hairs you’ll lose on any given day depends on how abundant and healthy your follicles are, what medications you’re taking, and many other factors, some of which are beyond your control. For example, the recommendations in this section won’t reverse thinning hair due to male pattern baldness or aging — typical male baldness is genetic. It is estimated that we each lose about 100 hairs a day.  As we age, our hair spends more time in the resting phase, which means that we’ll shed more hair than usual, and it won’t grow back as quickly. Helping hair growth

Hair needs fuel to keep growing, just as your body needs to be fueled.  If you are vitamin, mineral or nutrient deficient, your hair is not going to be healthy and it isn't going to grow as it should. Eat a balanced diet and/or take a multivitamin that is rich in B vitamins, particularly biotin. Hair also needs vitamins E, C and A for growth purposes. If you are anemic (iron deficient), this, too, can cause hair loss or hair thinning and a slowing down of the growth process. Essential fatty acids are full of protein, which hair is made of. They should also be incorporated into your diet to promote hair growth and health.  Make sure that you are getting enough folic acid, as well as zinc, silica, sulfur and magnesium, in your diet, or via a daily supplement, according to Hairboutique.com. A shortage of any of these items will have a negative impact on the condition of your hair and its ability to grow.  Try:  http://www.vitabiotics.com/perfectil/ Hair growth, or lack of gro

Minoxidil doesn't work for me anymore

After using Minoxidil 5% first my hair started growing significantly and everyone thought I was wearing a wig! but after 6 months I experienced severe hair loss and irritation. Then in 2 weeks I lost all my grown hair.  unfortunately after that minoxidil didn't work for me anymore! Now it's about 6 months that I've started using rogaine foam and the result is not bad but still I lose so much hair and no significant hair growth. I think my hair has become sensitive to minoxidil. I don't know how I can return to those hairy days . Has anyone had the same experience? any suggestion?
